Time to be born

On December 26, 1941, in the tranquil community of Calabash Bay, North Andros, a bouncing baby boy was born to the late Virginia Hinsey-Lundy and Quebell Lundy. The name given to him was Vincent Lundy.

Time for Nourishment

Vincent or ‘Din Din’ as he was affectionately called, attended Calabash Bay All Aged School. Upon completion, he gained employment with his Uncle Edward as a masonry apprentice. His passion and skills in the masonry field grew as he worked closely with his Uncle and Mr. Nelson Moxey in Andros. Several years later he relocated to Nassau where he worked with Mr. Arnold Cargill. Over the years, Vincent became an exceptional Mason who was instrumental in constructing many of the homes and businesses still standing in Nassau today, including the Golden Gates Native Baptist Church. Apart from his passion for building nice things, Vincent also had a passion for fishing and cooking. Oh when Vincent prepared a meal, all plates were left empty! Vincent was also a songbird, a beautiful talent which was passed down to many of his children and grandchildren.

Time to loveIn 1964

Vincent met the love of his life, Marlene Elizabeth Johnson, and two years later, the two became one. Prior to his marriage to Marlene, Vincent fathered a beautiful daughter by the name of Christine, and from his union with Marlene, eleven more children was birthed, namely: Meoshe, Kyrah, Shane, Natalia, Sean, Raquel, Tamara, Shenique, Tiffany, Lorando and Tatika. With a family that size, there was never a dull moment! Sadly, our happy circle of fourteen was broken when Marlene passed away in September, 2019. Although the detachment of the Matriarch of the family and the love of his life was evidently disheartening, Vincent continued to live life holding on to the fond memories they shares over the past fifty plus years.

Time of Affliction

On the night of May 3, 2024, Vincent was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital after suffering a seizure at home. Although he was unresponsive most of the time, Vincent’s family continued to visit, sing, pray, praise and believe God for his healing. A tight squeeze of the hands would usually signal his belief in God and in the power of prayer. During his hospital stay, Vincent developed ‘hospital acquired pneumonia’ which further impacted his health condition. About two months later, Vincent was released from the hospital into the care of his daughter; however, three days later, he developed severe respiratory issues, which resulted in him being re-admitted to hospital.

Time of Transition

On 17 July, 2024, after four days of being hospitalized and battling with respiratory and other health issues, Vincent bid goodbye to this world of pain and suffering and transitioned from earth to glory.
