On March 23, 1961 in New Providence, the late Herchel (Buster) and Sintana Collie gave birth to a bouncing baby boy who they affectionately named Sanford Wilbert Collie. Sanford was the second child born into their union, from birth up until his untimely passing he was always a cheerful, helpful and an exceptional man.

Sanford was a man of humble beginnings; heconstantly spoke of his younger days living Mollie St where he worked at alocal food store. He became responsible for providing groceries daily for hissiblings who eagerly awaited his return. While his earnings may have seemedsmall or insignificant, he knew the importance of a family working in unisonand he gave unselfishly to them at every call. Hard work was always anattribute he proudly displayed.

Being the innovative thinker he was he alwaysdiscussed business ideas and the true meaning of life, always with a brightinfectious smile; ever the social butterfly he loved to meet and chat withwhomever he came into contact with. Whether family, friend or stranger no manwould ever walk away empty handed or without an encouraging word.

Sanford held numerous jobs until he finally settledupon employment at The Bahamas Telecommunications Corporation (BatelCo) inSeptember of 1985. He displayed true dedication, hard work and faithful servicefor 26 years that did not go unnoticed as he elevated in the company.

Upon leaving The Bahamas TelecommunicationsCorporation he then joined the Cuba Libre family where he was gainfullyemployed until his passing.

Sanford prided himself on the love and theimportance of family. He was a loving and devoted father, throughout his lifehe remained very close to all of his children. They can attest that behind thestern and tough exterior he was a gentle giant with a pure heart. To knowSanford was to love him.

It was in the year 2010 when Sanford married thelove of his life, his soulmate Angelique. They became inseparable and tookgreat pride in the simple pleasures of life. In their free time they loved toshare in activities such as gardening, or even just sitting on the porchsharing a few laughs. The only time they were ever seen apart was when Sanfordwent to work or to catch a quick game of pool. They were inseparable up untilhe took his very last breath.

During the latter part of 2021 his health startedto decline as he was diagnosed with stage four liver cancer. As his conditionworsened, Sanford always remained positive and grateful to his loving wife whocared for him. It was by no accident that during his time of need in the lastfew months of his life that his wife remained faithfully by his side andprovided the best care and support until his very last breath.
