Rose Coleby

On the 17th day of July,1964 in the quiet settlement of Nicolls Town, Andros, Ernest and Una Ebanks (nowboth deceased) welcomed a beautiful baby girl and named Rose Margaretta Ebanks.  She was the second of seven children.

Rose received his early educationat The Nicolls Town Primary School and later enrolled in North Andros HighSchool where she graduated in 1982. After graduating from high school she moved to Nassau to seek employmentand started working at Peggy’s Hat Factory. In 1983 Rose welcomed her first son, Marvin.  In 1987 Rose met and later married RendalColeby and from that union they welcomed her second child, Renell.

After a number of years, Rosemoved to Ocean Club Resort where she served in the Tennis Pro Shop focusing onsales for many years.

Rose would always light up anyroom with her infectious smile and warm personality.  She was a selfless person who was always willingto help others and was consciously concerned about making sure that those aroundher were treated with respect.

Rose later gained employment atJohn Bull Ltd where she worked as Clinique Sales Representative.  This position afforded her the opportunity totravel to various destination for training and development and it allowed herto meet persons from many walks of life.  Rose later followed her passion and left the city of Nassau and movedback to San Andros where she began farming. It was during this time that Rose met a boat captain by the name of BrunoMiller.   That union led to her thirdchild, Bureno.

Rose was a courageous warrior whoalways faced challenges head on.  In 2009she would face the biggest hurdle of her life when she was diagnosed withbreast cancer.  After numerous doctorsvisits, chemotherapy sessions, hair loss and so many other unsettling lifeexperiences, Rose was able to beat the odds and went into remission for anumber of years.  Despite thesetribulations, Rose lived her life to the fullest and always focused on the trueessence of life including her family – which she held very near and dear to herheart;  travel; and a closer relationshipwith God.  Rose always felt ageless, timeless and she never went beyond the age of 18, in her own mind.

In 2014 Rose moved to Chub Cay wheremet George and Kathy Bishop.  Rose andKathy became the best of friends – they traveled together and truly valuedevery opportunity they had to get together. The Bishops supported Rose in so many ways during her health challenges, which came to plague her yet again.  Rosecreated so many beautiful memories with the Bishops and they remained in closecontact to the very end.

After spending a number of yearsin Chub Cay, Rose later moved to Cat Cay where she worked in the housekeepingarea and met a number of people who would eventually become her close friends.  In true Rose-style, she faced even morechallenges with her health, but she did it gracefully, unrelentingly and alwayswith a smile.  She was only able toremain in Cat Cay for a short time before having to move back to Nassau.

Rose never allowed sickness tobecome her identity.  Although shestruggled physically with her health, her mind was always strong and she never losther will to fight.  Rose was always insurvival mode.

After a valiant battle, on 10thJune, 2024, God took this opportunity to pick his beautiful Rose to brighten upHis own garden.
