ATIME TO BE BORN
OnDecember 17, 1963 in the quaint settlement of Wemyss Bight, Eleuthera the lateReverend Arthur and Mrs. Netlean Brown welcomed new additions to theirhousehold, a second set of twins …this time twin boy. They named one of theboys Roland Brown. He was the 8th child and fit in nicely with theever expanding Brown clan.
ATIME TO LEARN
Rolandreceived his early education at the Wemyss Bight Primary School and he laterattended the Preston H. Albury High School. He was naturally skilled with hishands and this would lead him to future employment.
A TIME TO WORK
Roland was employed at the Cotton Bay GolfClub as a Maintenance Attendant for a period of time but migrated to Nassau toseek out better opportunities. It was during this time whilst working forfamily and friends that he enhanced and continued to develop his God giventalents and eventually became a skilled carpenter and mason. He was extremelytalented and had a passion for construction much like his father and brothers.
A TIME TO LIVE
Charlie”as he was affectionately called by his twin brother Morland was plain spokenand wasn’t afraid to speak his mind. With him you just had to take him as youmet him. He was proud of his children and enjoyed spending time with familyespecially his twin. Despite his vices, Roland still believed in cleanliness, havinga good work ethic and the tenets of manners and respect and he passed theseattributes on to his children. Rolandwas not without faults as are none of us. He could get quite rambunctious attimes but he had a loving heart and Cascarilla Street, Pinewood will simplynever be the same.
A TIME TO LOVE
In1991, he married his high school friend Monique Thompson-Brown whounfortunately predeceased him. He found love again later in life when he metand married Joyceline Smith Brown in 2011 who sadly also previously passedaway.
A TIME TO DIE
In recent times Roland haddeveloped some health issues but he was a fighter and battled to the end. OnOctober 24th 2022 he took his last breath and left this earth.
