Stewart Granger Johnson (aka Ambrose) transitioned to be with the Lord at the Princess Margaret Hospital, Nassau Bahamas at the age of 66 on Thursday December7th 2023. He was born on Sunday July 28th 1957 in Nassau Bahamas to Olivia Johnson and Wenthworth Roberts (both deceased). Stewart was the second eldest ofhis siblings.
Stewart completed his elementary education in Nassau Bahamas and continued hisHigher Education at RM Bailey High, Nassau Bahamas, Boyd Anderson High, FtLauderdale, NBCD6 Horsea & Scand Fire Fighting School, England, College of theBahamas, and Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute, Nassau Bahamas.
Stewart returned home after completing highschool in Ft Lauderdale. He worked atSolomons Supercenter for a few years.Stewart answered the call to serve our nation with unwavering commitment, enlistinginto the Royal Bahamas Defence Force as a member of New Entry 7 on August 11,1980. His decision to join the RBDF showcased a profound sense of duty and patriotismfor his country, months after the tragic sinking of HMBS Flamingo.
Throughout his distinguished 32-year career, Stewart demonstrated versatility anddedication in every role he undertook. He served as a cook on Her Majesty’s BahamianShips, including the Abaco, David Tucker, and the Port Nelson as a Gunner’s Assistant.Onshore he contributed his skills to various vital roles, including the personnel filesoffice, the Supply Department’s Canteen, the Harbour Patrol Unit, and Command Squadron.
Stewart was a dedicated husband and father. He was known to many and was alwaysready to help others when the need arose. He will be missed dearly and his memorieswill forever live on in the hearts and lives he touched.
