His Entrance: On a beautiful Friday, August 4th1943, on Delectable Bay Acklins, Noel Glenville Jones entered this world. He was the second of two children born toRonald and Virginia Jones. They were ecstatic because of the birth of theirsecond son.
His Education & Early Life: After Noel’s birth, he livedwith his parents and older brother Godfrey (predeceased) for a short time. Hismother predeceased him at a very early age, after which he would live with bothhis paternal grandmother, Jeanna Jones and his aunt, Lottie Jones. When he lived with them, he attended PompeyBay All-Age School. Other times, hewould live with his maternal grandparents, Reverend Prince and LorettaFerguson. During these times, heattended Snug Corner All-Age School.
Noel relocated to Nassau where he wasnurtured under the care of his father and stepmother Pearline Jones.
Working Life: Noel was a plumber by tradeand also a taxi cab driver. He enlisted in The Royal Bahamas Police Force onMarch 18th, 1970. He was devoted to hisduties as a police officer. Over themany years of service, he was posted at several divisions including theTraffic, Internal ìSecurity, Southern and Maintenance Divisions as well as thePolice Headquarters. In the year 1995, under the change of a new government,Noel was transferred to the Ministry of Education as a Senior Security Officer. He supervised the Security Department for Ridgeland Primary, R.M. Bailey, C. H.Reeves and C.C. Sweeting High Schools. He worked for more than ten years inthis capacity until his retirement. However, as a plumber by trade; Noelcontinued to work progressively providing service for family and friends just afew months shy of his passing.
A time to Love: Noel met the love of hislife, Pernell Collie at a baby’s christening. Their paths would cross again ata wedding they both stood in. After a short period of courtship, Noel andPernell joined in holy matrimony on July 29,1964. Together, they had sixchildren, Ernestine, Denise (deceased), Shawn, Cherry, Natasha and Deon(deceased). Noel loved his wife dearly. He would often boast of her beautiful and godly character. Noel andPernell partnered in their journey in life despite the many challenges theyfaced. One significant aspect of theirpartnership was the rearing of their children to be God fearing andrespectful. Noel’s and Pernell’s life asa family was filled with joy and laughter. They both ensured that the home they nurtured for their children was onethat was filled with love, kindness, and gentleness. Noel required that hischildren loved each other, respected their mother and were polite to all theycame in contact with. Even thoughPernell had a ‘heavy hand’ in the reprimanding of the children, Noel neveropposed her discipline of the children. Together, they led as a united front. Pernell predeceased Noel, whichleft him longing for her love and companionship. He would often say, “I miss mywife!” Shortly, over three years, God understood Noel’s “missing of his wife”and called him home to be reunited with the love of his life.
His Exit: Noel quietly left this earth on Wednesday, April 6, 2022.The morning of his passing, he spent a few hours with his daughters. He was peaceful and calm, eating a little andasking them to do certain things. Itnever occurred to his daughters that it would be the last time on this side oflife, that they would get to commune with their father. Just a few hours later, his daughters returned to check on him. They found him resting in God; both hands clasped together inprayer. While this was challenging andexcruciating for his family, and while they wept, they wept with hope knowingthat Noel went on to be with the Lord. His final words to them were, “Turn onthe light before you leave!” Such words would resonate within the hearts of hischildren.
While they were under the assumption thathe was referring to the light on the front porch, after his passing they soonunderstood what he meant. He was in factreferring to, turning on “THE LIGHT” of God in his heart for Jesus is indeed The Light of theWorld!
Hisprecious memories will forever be cherished by His Beloved Family:
