On the cool morning of December 16, 1963, hearts were warmedas Antoinette & Felix Johnson welcomed the arrival of their secondbeautiful baby girl. They named her Alyce Maria Johnson, who would later beaffectionately called “Bunny” by all who were close to her.
Alyce began her education at Woodcock Primary and T.G GloverPrimary School. She then achieved her senior education at A. F. Adderley SeniorHigh School where she graduated.
Being the industrious lady she was, Alyce started her careerpath at Spotless Cleaners. She then moved on and started working for SuperValue where she always took pride in all that she was tasked with. She wasnever afraid of getting the job done. After working many years at Super Value, she became employed at Hotel Venta Club where she worked in housekeeping. Duringher time there, Alyce was treasured by all who came in contact with her, especially the visiting guest who would often request for her by name. She wasan excellent worker with a warm and friendly personality that made her veryeasy to love.
Raised in a large family, Alyce became family oriented. Shecared deeply for each family member and made sure that everyone was always fairlyseen and heard. She would often extend herself whenever she was needed, even ifit was for something as simple as being a listening ear, rendering words ofencouragement or sharing a small prayer. She was blessed with her very ownfamily, a lovely baby girl and a striking baby boy whom she named Keva andTrevor. Together they brought her an abundance of happiness.
At a young age, Alycegave her life to the Lord. She stood at the altar of Refuge Tabernacle andprofessed Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She was immediately filled with theHoly Spirit. Her life was a testimony, as she was devoted to her spiritual walkwith the Lord. She developed a great love for reading and would often spendtime studying her bible or “spending time in the word” as she would say. Shetook no shame, but much eagerness in sharing the word of God and his infinite lovewith anyone she met. It was at Faith Family Ministries where she was ordained aMinster of the Lord.
Beautiful from birth, Alyce easily attracted the eyes of Mr.Dennis Carey. They were joined in holy matrimony on April 16, 1990. Their unionproduced three beautiful daughters, Candia, Ellanna, and Desiree.
A deep love was shared for her children, and especially hergrandchildren; they were the core of her being. It was always an exciting timefor her whenever there was a family gathering or vacation. She enjoyed everyopportunity she had to travel and enjoyed life with those whom she loved dearly.Alyce always looked forward to all of her grandchildren crowding her bed towatch TV and enjoy the little sweets and snacks she would give them from herbag, a bag that even the littlest grandchild would drag to her because she knewit was where Grammy kept the good stuff.
During the year of 2013, Alyce was hospitalized and diagnosedwith chronic kidney disease, which resulted in her receiving treatment threetimes a week. Through it all, she remained steadfast in her faith and praisedher way through much pain. Her faith never wavered, and she would alwaysencourage her children to trust in God, to walk in love and to live a righteouslife which was her last charge.
On the morning of Friday October 14, 2022, Alyce left home ina joyful mood for her final dialysis treatment. She praised God as she sang thesong “Goodness of God” by CeCe Winans during the drive. She boasted withexcitement about how all of her life God had indeed been faithful and good toher, and that she would always sing about his goodness. At 9:30am, God in hisinfinite wisdom and mercy healed her body with a perfect everlasting healing.
