In Loving Memory of

Mikialhia "Mickey" Edwards

28th October 1987
to
11th March 2022

Atime to Born: It was a beautiful Wednesdaymorning, October 28th, 1987, when the world stopped for only asecond, or “so it seemed” when Michael Brown and Jestina Roberts (Maelean)welcomed their bundle of joy into the world. After careful consideration, theydecided to name her Mikialhia Masika Brown. Although “Mickey” was the youngestof her sisters, she was always the leader amongst them.

Education:Mickey started her education at HeadStart Pre-School. She later moved on to Stephen Dillet Primary followed by C.C.Sweeting Junior High and then graduated from the great C.R. Walker Senior High Schoolin 2005. Mickey was an all-around student and was always so proud to be a“KNIGHT”.

Work:As a child, Mickey became anentrepreneur because of her gifts, talents, and love for people. At the age ofthirteen, Mickey ventured into the tattoo industry and somehow became an expertat her home and at school. She would put tattoos on her friends and familymembers for a small fee. Shortly after, Mickey worked in Millionaire Beauty Salonand Barbie’s during her summer breaks. Mickey never went to any sort ofuniversity, but she was a Barber, Hairstylist, Nail Technician, Sushi Chef,Baker, Cook, Comedian, Entertainer, Singer, Rapper, and even a Chatter. Herfinal gift was an Orthodontist, where she began putting braces into people'smouths to give them a perfect smile. Mickey perfected every one of her gifts.

Love:Mickey loved her family openly. Itwas all about her siblings and her mother. However, at some point, she wantedto start her own family. This is when she met and fell in love with her bestfriend and soulmate, Ellysee (Funk) Edwards. They courted for a few years andwas blessed with three beautiful children: Elyssa, Alyssa, and Prince Edwards.Shortly after they decided to tie the knot on Mickey's birthday October 28th,2017.

Personality: Mickey was a leader, she was confident, she had aninfectious smile that lit up every room that she walked into. She spoke withauthority, but in a joking way, her words were “HEY, HEY, HEY”. Her presencewas always felt. Mickey was full of life! Always ready to help someone alongthe way. She never looked at what you had or where you came from. She wouldgive you the clothes from her back if you were in need. She would empty hercupboards and if that was not enough, she would give you her last dime.Everyone knew that the fun friend was always Mickey. If Funk was at work, shewould say it’s “road time”. She was the life of the party, whether she washosting it or attending it. She was the glue that kept the family together. Shewas a friend, a sister, a counselor, a confidant, and many others to all. Shewas loyal to the core when it came to people in her circle.

Worship: Although Mickey was a fun and outgoing person, she lovedthe Lord. In 2015, she was invited by a friend (Marilyn) to visit a church.Marilyn never showed up but Funk and herself still attended New Unity House andFellowship where Bishop Anthony and Prophetess Sharon Nairn are the overseers.Mickey and Funk went to services regularly with their children. Many times,Mickey would go by and sit and talk with the pastor all day having lunch andassisting where she could. She loved her pastor even though she did not attendas often as she would have wanted to. On days when she could not make it intothe church, she would worship at home.

OnFriday, March 11th, 2022, in the early morning Funk and Mickey werepreparing to travel to Charlotte on the midday flight. The entire week before, she told her friends and family members that she was going away on Friday, notknowing that she was saying her final goodbyes. Just as they were leaving hometo drop the kids at school and head to the airport, God’s plan for her life wasmuch more superior than her own. Mickey was transported from home via ambulanceto Princess Margaret Hospital where she remained until 3:36 pm when shetransitioned from this earth to a better home.
