Merlene Beatrice Gibson

Onthe 18th day of October, 1921 in the tranquil community of WilliamsTown, Exuma, a beautiful baby girl was born to the parentage of William Bethel (deceased)and Nellie Bowe (deceased). This beautiful blessing was given the name MerleneBeatrice Bethel.

 

A Time To Learn

 

 

Merlenereceived her education at the All Age School in Exuma.  Upon completion of school, she migrated toNassau where she gain employment as a caretaker.

 

A Time To Love

 

WilkenGibson met Merlene and this courtship ended in marriage.  This union was blessed with 4 beautifulchildren:  Charles, Neville (deceased),Shirley and Anna Gibson.

 

Merlene’s Spiritual Life

 

Merleneaccepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour at a very youngage.  She was a woman of faith whobelieved that there was nothing too hard for God.  A peace-maker, worshipper and a prayerwarrior she was.

 

Merleneplayed a pivotal role in her children’s spiritual walk with the Lord.  She accompanied them to Sunday School andchurch.

 

Merlene End

 

On21st July, 2021, Merlene was admitted to the hospital.  Mammie faith in her God remained strong aftertaking ill.  We, the family, saw mammieslowly closed up her earthly house, knowing that she had another building todwell in not made with hands.

 

OnThursday, 29th July, 2021, Merlene peacefully took her journey to bewith the Lord where her soul is resting comfortably in God’s presence until theday of redemption.

Leftto cherish her loving memories are:  Son: Charles Gibson; Daughters:Shirley & Anna Gibson; Adopted Son:Shane Patterson (Sara); Adopted Daughter:  Lisa Patterson-Smith (Jason); Step Son: Marvin Gibson; Step Daughter: Ramona Gibson-Newton(Stanford); Grandchildren: MarioGibson (Abigail), Jermaine Moss (Jennifer), Althea Gibson-Turnquest(Johnathan), Benjamin and Elizah Patterson, Donnavon Gibson, Stanford Jr.,Sanchez, Santish, Ashanti, Sanroiae and Antwoine Newton; Brother-in-Law: Oral Gibson and family; Sisters-in-law: Veronica Bethel and family and Evelyn Gibson andfamily;

 

Numerous Nephews and Nieces including:  E. J. Bowe and family, Bernard Smith andfamily, Cynthia and Robert Maynard, Sugar Kid Bowe, Leslie and Ernest Bowe,Charlene Whylly-Rolle and family, Wendal Whylly, Debbie, Perry and SharonGibson, Leslie Lopez and family, Ivy and Beryl Walker (Community of SanSalvador), Kayla Smith Nixon and Bernadette Smith, Sherry Whylly-Williams, TerranStorr and Dominich Strachan;
