His Entrance:
On the 9th May, 1985, on the Island of New Providence the community of Golden Gates and Sunshine Park welcome Pine and Linda first born. He was the prize possession of his parents and was named Jamaal Ronald Roker. After which he was affectionally called “Mim”.
His Early Education
Jamaal attended Alphabet Academy Pre-School before enrolling in Carmichael Primary School. He then further his education at Sir Jack Hayward Junior High School, Freeport Grand Bahama before completing his studies at C.V. Bethel Senior High School.
Working Life
Jamaal grew and matured into a handsome young man. He was passionate about working and was dedicated to his craft. He was a “jack of all trade” and a master of “ONE”. He began employment with the Lyford Cay Club and mastered the art of bar tendering. He later tendered his resignation with the Lyford Cay Club and enrolled in the Embry Riddle Aeronautical College. After completing his first semester and returning home on a break, he realized that his true calling was to become an electrician.
He then ventured out following in the footsteps of his father who also taught him the fundamentals to perfect his craft. After receiving sufficient knowledge he became an entrepreneur and formed his company with the assistance of his sister Lakera. He named the company Voltmasters where he remained self-employed until his demised.
A Time of Sickness
It was in June 2020 that Jamaal’s health started to declined. The pandemic and it’s challenges made it difficult for him to seek the proper medical care. In October 2020 he became very ill and was hospitalized, during that time he was diagnosed with Renal (Kidney) Failure. He remain hospitalized for seven weeks where he underwent treatment to assist with dialysis that was greatly needed. Upon returning home he faced numerous health challenges and underwent a series of surgical procedures. His parents, household and extended families contributed significantly to his daily meals, transportation to dialysis and other treatments he requested.
His Exit
On Monday 19 December 2022, Jamaal woke up feeling ill. His sister Lakera accompanied him to A&E for the final time where he was admitted. On Wednesday, 21 December 2022, Jamaal slip away peacefully during the early morning hours.
We give thanks to God for his life and the legacy that Jamaal has left behind. He was strong, principally grounded and thought us that earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot cure. We are sadden that he had to leave us but our confidence that it is well with his soul. He precious life, words of wisdom and Dr. Myles Munroe teaching will forever by our mantra.
He was predeceased by his grandmother Lilian Delores Roker.
