A TIME TO BE BORN:

Joy and excitement filled the home of the late Simeon and EthelViola Walker on October 10. 1958 in the settlement of Sugar Loaf, San Salvadorwhen their daughter Beryl gave birth to her second child a baby girl whom theyname Ivy Georgia.

A TIME TO GROW:

Ivy grew up with herGrandparents and her Mother; a happy, well-mannered, quiet and much lovedchild.  Ivy enjoyed going to church, to school and doing her chores. Avery obedient child was she.  Ivy also lived with her Uncle Holland andAunt Carmetta in Yellow Elder Garden Nassau, Bahamas for many years.

Upon returning home to San Salvador, Ivy loved life and enjoyedcaring for her younger siblings and going to church as it was a must in herfamily and on the Island.  True to her upbringing in a Christian familyand surroundings, Ivy accepted Christ as her Lord and Saviour at a young ageand continued in that faith until death.

A TIME TO LEARN:

Ivy, her older brother Everette, uncle Bruce, and her cousinsRosetta and Dena along with the other children in the settlements of Sugar Loafand Long Bay all attended the All-Age School in Cockburn Town, San Salvadorwhere she gained her early childhood training and primary education.  Ivyattended the San Salvador Central High School for a semester before she movedto Nassau and continued her education at A.F Adderley High School.  Whileattending A.F Adderley School, she then met Principal Mrs. Jackie Bosfield-Marshalland a good mother and daughter relationship was fostered.  Ivy became abig sister to Keith (Mrs. Marshall's brother) and her children Dari, Lakeishaand Katriena.  Ivy lived with the Marshalls until she graduated andreturned home to San Salvador. Ivy also attended Butler's Commercial Schoolwhere she studied Typing and Secretarial Skills.

A TIME TO WORK:

Upon returning homefrom schooling in Nassau, Ivy worked at Columbus Landing Ltd / Riding Rock Inn& Marina in San Salvador. She worked as a Waitress at Riding Rock for a fewyears. She was kind, respectful and worked well with Management, fellow staffand the many guests she met.

Ivy returned to Nassau and was employed at Bahamas SupermarketsLtd / City Meat Markets, as a Cashier at all of their local stores. Ivy metmany people; due to her quiet, humble and loving nature she developed many truefriendships.

Ivy joined the Bahamas Public Service Commission and was employedat the Department of Archives as a Clerk, it was here that she realized thiswas the job that she truly wanted to do.  She worked hard and honestly andwas promoted as the Executive Secretary to the then Director of Archives Dr.Gail Saunders.  Loving, kind-hearted and sincere Ivy garnered many truelifetime friendships among her coworkers with whom she worked until sheretired.

A TIME FOR LOVE AND FAMILY:

During the time Ivy worked at City Meat Market, she met thehandsome, young and vibrant Moses Stanley Curry. They fell in love and gotmarried the 9th of August 1986. Their union was blessed with two daughters andthree grandchildren. Ivy and Moses loved life and enjoyed traveling with theirfamily.

In January 2013 while at work, Ivy suddenly took ill and wasrushed to Doctors Hospital, she had suffered a stroke and had to be air liftedto Miami, Florida.  Thank God in his infinite mercies, it didn't take herfrom her beloved Moses and family.  Moses took good care of his"Ive" as only he calls her, nurturing her health to where she wasable to return to work and later retired.  Ivy and Moses took on a greaterlove for life and living and when Moses retired they began living their dreams. They built their retirement home in Hatchet Bay, Eleuthera. They took manycruises and traveled frequently even though Ivy had to use a wheel chair attimes. Moses would wheel her around, tell her jokes to make her laugh andensure that she was happy as they enjoyed their lives together.

A TIME TO DIE:

Being a stroke patient there were times over the years when Ivywas in and out of hospital.  Moses along with their family took good careof her and made sure she was comfortable as the quiet and peaceful Ivy wouldnever complain.

Saturday, November 13, 2021 Ivy was airlifted from Eleuthera toNassau and admitted to Doctors hospital, where she peacefully bid this worldand life good bye as she slipped away into eternity about 7am on Friday,November 26, 2021.

Our hearts ached and our tears flowed, but we found comfort inknowing that “It is well with her soul” as we can say there was nothing betweenher and your Savior. Sleep in peace in the arms of Jesus ...........Until wemeet again!
