Hyacinth Vinola Mullings was born to Herman and AgathaMaycock of Nassau, Bahamas on March 10th, 1936.
She was a Kindergarten teacher in her early working career.She became a home-maker in her married life, then she worked as a shop-keeper,and later as a domestic worker for Tony Duncombe’s family. Vinola, as she wasmore affectionately known, lived a very quiet life. Her greatest joys werecooking and gardening. She will be most notably remembered for her tall andstatuesque beauty, grace, and poise. Her early religious affiliation was withthe St. Paul’s Baptist Church, Bias Street, where she participated in everyyouth organization. Later in life, she became a member of Wesley MethodistChurch, Grants Town and served in the Women’s Organization. Vinola received herlast communion from Rev. Lester Ferguson at her bedside at the Good SamaritanHome. Her earthly passage ended on June 13th, 2022, as she thanked hercaregivers and prayed for God to protect her family. Her last words were:“Don’t cry, don’t cry.”
She was predeceased by her husband, Julius Bertram Mullings;her parents; her sons: Brian Dwain and Julian Harrison; her sister, Iva MaycockPatton Beckford; her brothers: Sirbreon, William, and Arthur Maycock.
Left to mourn are her immediate family: Dulcie Mullings Self,Brian Self, Raisa Noelle, Holly Parotti, Doris, Ina, and Diane Maycock,including numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Also her dearest friends andneighbours: Shirley Cunningham, Robert Maynard, Josh and Gloria Major, TheSientel family, Andrew Seymour, and her caregiver, Lanera Facey.
