On the 19th day of March 1971, a bouncing baby boy was born to theproud Margaret Anne Curry. He was given the name Floyd Jerome. He was the fourthchild.

Atthe age of 5, Margaret relocated to Maryland and Floyd’s grandparents, John andHattie would raise him as their own. He attended Oakes Field Primary and H. O.Nash High School, until he was reunited with his mother and siblings in Floridain 1990. Shortly after this move, Floyd became a father to his first childFlorice, but also began to associate himself with questionable company whichresulted in his return to Nassau.

While living with his grandparents, Floyd’sgrandfather who worked as a taxi driver would enroll him in a Bahama Hostcourse, where he too could obtain his public service license. Once Floydobtained this, his grandfather would retire to focus on his Ministry and hisailing wife.

As Floyd began to manage his grandfather’s taxi,he was constantly stationed at Nassau International Airport (now LPIA). It wasduring this time he became friends with gentleman by the name of Clement, whoalso worked there. One evening, Floyd gave Clement a ride home from work and hewas immediately captivated by Clement’s younger sister Paulette. Shortly aftertheir introduction, they dated for a few months and were wedded on October 4th ,1999. In 2002, they welcomed their first child Simmieanne.

After retiring the taxi, Floyd worked a fewsecurity jobs as this allowed him to take care of his now ailing grandfatheruntil his passing. He was employed at d’Albenas Agency until he was diagnosedwith an underlying medical condition, which made it difficult for him toperform his work task. Floyd began assisting his brother-in -laws on manyconstructions sites as a helper. Eventually, these jobs became far and few inbetween. This took a toll on his relationship with his wife, which ultimatelyled to their separation. Although Floyd loved his kids and remained apart of theirlives, it wasn’t enough to cope with all that had transpired. He becamedepressed and begun to drink excessively.

On August 26th, his brother and sister-in-lawcalled an ambulance for him after realizing he appeared to be having a seizureand he was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital. After two weeks of beinghospitalized, his daughter Paulina received a call the afternoon of September 11stating that his health had taken a turn for the worse and by 8:15pm Floyd hadpassed away.
