Imagine this, the year was1925, September 13th to be exact, in the serene settlement ofPinefield, Acklins, when Pastor Daniel and Lola Williamson welcomed into theworld an adorable baby girl whom they named Florence Louise Williamson.
She attended the Chesters AllAge School, where slates were used as exercise books. Notes were written, checkedand erased, at the same time had to be remembered for revision and exams at theend of the term.
She had a passion foreducation and excelled to the highest level of being a MONITOR, she taught fora number years and had to retired to assist with her younger siblings.
She met and grew in love witha debonair by the name of Mr. Harris Pedro Bain (Sr.) of Mason Bay Acklins.
They were united in HolyMatrimony on January 4th 1948. This union was blessed with sevendaughters and five sons.
From her child she has devotedher time to caring for her siblings and the seniors in her community.
Her quest for knowledgecontinued, although being full time employed, she reentered the scholasticworld, attended afternoon classes in B.J.C’s with her children and Dr. VictorCooper as the professor. She obtained passes in English Language, and ReligiousStudies. Her pursuit for knowledge, led her to ensure that each of theirchildren afforded quality education. She was devoted Christian and was afaithful member of the Lovely Bay, Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was amember of the Red Cross, Acklins branch. She continued to do private tutoringwith some of the students in the community. Indeed, hundreds of studentsbenefited from her affection and sage counsel evident by their successfulcareers across the Bahamas. She was the cornerstone of her family. Her lifecould be summarized in Proverbs 31 20-26. “She stretched out her hand to feedthe poor yea, she reacheth forth her hand to the needy. She openeth her mouthwith wisdom, and her tongue is the law of kindness.
On Thursday April 7that 7am she transitioned peacefully from this life, to a waiting the glory ofthe resurrection.
