Joy filled the air and smileslit the faces of John and Lucy Ferguson on August 5th 1938 in the picturesquesettlement of Snug Corner, Acklins. They named her Enid Marina. She receivedher formative education at Snug Corner Acklins All Aged School.
At the age of 19yrs old, Enidleft home and moved to The city (Nassau). During this time is where she beganworking as a custodian and also side jobs as a maid to not only make a livingbut to help take care of those that were most dear to her.
After some few years of working, she made a decision to become her own boss and became self-employed. It was noteasy, many days she toiled and she reaped but the business that started withone cooler with a few beverages turned into a Profitable Hot Dog stand. Throughthis humble beginning is where she fostered relationships with persons from allwalks of life. She was able to help each one of her children (Wesley Ferguson,Huel Ferguson, David Lopez-Carey and Renay Ferguson) become established intheir own career paths. Enid is no stranger to hard work. Over the years ofhard work, her consistent track record proceeds her.
Enid was a tough cookie with amarshmallow heart. She wanted to see everyone succeed and excel in life. Manytimes, her place of business became a place of counsel and therapy for many! You would oftentimes drive pass her stall to see both men and women standing orsitting around that silver stand, eating, talking and laughing. She knew ofgood hospitality and offered it in her own special way. She was a special gemnot to ever be played with. She was affectionately known as “Ms. Shirley orFergie”
She lived a full life with notone regret. She travelled. Celebrated. Loved and planted many seeds over thecourse of years.
On the beautiful morning ofThursday June 23, Enid transitioned from earth to glory in the arms of love ather residence in Pinewood Gardens.
