Dion AndrewTurnquest, was the first of five children born to proud parents Herbert andInez Turnquest on December 22nd, 1963 in Grays Long Island.
Dion waschristened in the Anglican Church at St. Theresa in Grays Long Island.
He began hisearly education at St Thomas Moore, was later transferred to Uriah McPheeprimary and in the summer of 1978, the family relocated to Palmetto PointEleuthera, there he completed his education at Governors Harbour High School,now Central Eleuthera High.
Dion soonreturned to Nassau, where his late uncle Claudius Wells taught him a trade inpainting. Dion went on to work firstly with Dingman Group of Companies, then theWells Group eventually forming his own company, Pro-Painters.
He becamewell established in this trade, growing his company by leaps and bounds. Dionhad a strong belief in working to give you is his very best, looking for nohandouts always saying, “You bring from the job only what you carried.”
Dion had ahuge heart taking responsibility of his siblings and cousins at a very youngage. His quiet, unassuming, and uncomplaining disposition touched the hearts ofall who knew him, his generosity knew no bounds as he gave from his heartwithout question.
Dion keptfew friends, a lover of books, watching sports, shopping. All anyone had to dowas ask of him and “Big D” did it without hesitation.
On April 28thhe was admitted to hospital due to weakness on his left side, tests confirmedhe had suffered a stroke, a subsequent fall in hospital led to discovery ofblood clots that proved to be fatal. On May 11th “Dig D” took hisfinal breath and is now at rest.
Sleep on“Big D” take your much deserved rest we will always love and miss you, but Godknows best.
