In Loving Memory of

Delores Cassandra Styles

God in his unique way bestowed the gift of a beautiful baby girl, Delores  “Lor” Cassandra Styles on the beautiful island of  New Providence on February 20, 1939 to the proud parents of Charles and  Beatrice Shepherd.  She was the oldest child of  seven siblings.

Delores received her early education from  Eastern Junior School and moved on to Eastern Senior School. She grew up in the Hawkins Hill area then eventually moved to Peardale then Windsor Place.

On November 21, 1964, she was joined in holy matrimony to Neville Styles at Salem Baptist Church. From this union came  Devane, Neville, Simone and Racquel where they lived out their family life in South Beach Estates.

Mother had a variety of jobs. She worked at Bahamasair which afforded her and daddy the opportunity of frequent travels. She also worked at FINCO and eventually retired from the College of The Bahamas in 1998. Retirement did not sit well with her as she was such a go-getter. So, she worked at The Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institution (BTVI) for a few years.

Our precious mother was a loving, no nonsense mother.  She was a God-fearing woman who instilled in her children Godly principles.  Proverbs 31:30 is a verse that truly depicted her character. It states “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”

Delores was a woman with a heart of gold. She was known for her generous spirit and would give her last to her children, grandchildren or whomever needed assistance. She always wanted to ensure that everyone was doing okay. This is evident by the amount of calls she made to family members and friends just to check on them.
