In Loving Memory of

Delano Valentino James

11th April 1988
to
13th May 2022

On April 11th ,1988, a bouncing baby boy was gifted to Valentino & Esther James.  They named him Delano Valentino James.  Delano had a very quiet spirit throughout hischildhood, staying to himself for the most part and enjoying his family onCoopers Terrace top of the hill.

He startedhis early education at Romper Room Preschool moving onto Uriah McPhee PrimarySchool and completing his primary school education at Gerald Cash PrimarySchool.  His high school years werecompleted at SC McPherson and CV Bethel High Schools.

It was onlyin Delano’s latter years of high school, that he became more sociable and formany he was the life of the party.  Hislove for family and friends was like no other.  Once Delano considered you family or a friend, you could count on his loyalty to you. He was very carefree and simply living his best life.

Uponcompleting high school, Delano worked many years in the hospitality industryand in his later years worked in the construction industry where he developedhis trade.  After working on the cay in theBerry Islands for a few years, Delano returned to Nassau December 2021 andworked briefly with a contractor over Paradise Island.

Delano spentmost of his evenings on the corner of Higher Drive with his friends.  This was his favorite pastime unless he wasasked to do something with his nieces and nephew.  He would never turn them down.  They may have been the only persons thatcould keep him inside.  In addition tohis nieces and nephew, Delano had a special love for kids.  He showed his younger cousins and the neighborhoodchildren so much attention, often giving them treats whenever he saw them.

Delano alsoenjoyed cooking for his family and friends. And in our opinion, there was no one that could season fish and meatlike him.  As a family, we can recall thelast meal he cooked for us on Mother’s Day – the tastiest crab and rice and moistturkey!

Delano’sdeath was a huge blow to many.  When heawoke on the morning of May 13th we had no idea this would be hislast.  He went to work as usual and camehome to enjoy the evening with friends and family.  He proceeded to walk to the end of the corner(Higher Drive) to purchase food from the neighbor and shortly after, Delano wassnuffed away.

He waspredeceased by his father Valentino James
