Austin Rolle Jr. was the eleventh of thirteenthchildren born to the late Austin and Minnie-Ophelia Rolle (nee Forbes) in NorthMastic Point, Andros on April 29, 1946. Austin, affectionately called Junior,attended the All Age School in Mastic Point, a bright, caring and loveable boywho carried those characteristics into his adult life.
Austin sought employment after completing hiseducation, and was employed with Bahamas Airways, Water and Sewerage, and Borcoin Grand Bahama. He finally found his passion, which was on the sea, just likehis father, Captain Austin Sr. He would go on to spend many years working onthe Bahamas Ranger and the Bahamas Sky sailing to various Islands in theBahamas and the US. He started out as a seaman, to first mate and then achievedhis captain licence.
Austin was married to the beautiful Rachel Burrowswho predeceased him on July 3, 2020. The couple was blessed with 8 children, threeboys and five girls.
Austin was a caring and loving husband and fatherwho were not shy in expressing his love in words and deeds. His children wouldoften reminisce of the fun times with their dad during their childhood years;playing horseback riding, lifting them high up over his neck, tickling thatresulted in great out bust of laughter, telling catchy stories and poem. Austinwas passionate about family, not only his wife and children, but his family onthe whole, his brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces and nephews alike. He oftenput others above himself, giving a helping hand where and when needed.
Austin was a devout Christian who love the Lord anda member of the Living Water Church of God where he worshiped regularly. Heloved to dance for the LORD, oh the joy when he had the opportunity to dancethe Rolle special.
On the morning of March 31, 2023 Austin quietlypassed away at home in his sleep.
