In Loving Memory of

Andrew Ricardo Winder

21st September 1962
to
26th March 2022

Andrew Ricardo Winder was born inNassau, Bahamas, on September 21, 1962 to his proud parents, Raymond Winder andArnette Rahming.

At a tender age he was sent tolive with his Aunt Gwendlyn (whom he affectionately called “Mother”) inBullocks Harbour in the Berry Islands.

Andrew began his education at theR.N. Gomez All Age School, in Bullocks Harbour. Upon his return to Nassau, heattended Sandilands Primary, L.W. Young Junior High and R.M. Bailey Senior Highschools.

After high school, Andrewsought employment at Jean Junction and Bonneville Bones Men’s clothingstore.  Needless to say, it was hisemployment at Bonneville Bones that set the trend for his “Impeccable”dressing.  It is said: “when Andrew getsdressed, the flies leave the building.”

His career at the airport beganat Nassau Flight services.  May 1, 1993,Andrew joined the Delta Airlines family, where he remained until he joined USAirways in 2008.  When U.S. Airways andAmerican Airlines merged in 2015 Andrew stayed on and he remained with thecompany until his death.

During Andrew’s time at theairport his path crossed with thousands of persons.  There are stories after stories of Andrew’s“others above self” attitude, from holding flights to using his own credit cardwhen a passenger only had cash.  Everypassenger was made to feel special because Andrew added a personal touch to hisservice.

Andrew loved people, he lovedhimself, he loved his family, but most of all he loved his mother.  Though friendly, Andrew had a quietdisposition - no fuss, and he stayed to himself.  I don’t ever recall Andrew saying NO!  You would get a: “let me check”, “I’ll getback to you”, or “tomorrow”; never no.

“Others Above Self.”  Ryan never wondered whether he was going toAtlanta for summer vacation, it was always “When is Uncle Andrew coming forme?”  Andrew would take him to Atlantaand return for him at the end of the summer. Debbie had the same good fortune when it was time for her totravel.  Andrew would meet her at thedoor, walk her through the process right to her ride outside.  When it was time to return, he was waitingfor her, if she was travelling on his airline, she was checked in.

Andrew joined the family of Zionin 2007.  “Thank God for life” wasAndrew’s favorite line.

In November of 2021, Andrew hadthree strokes, but because he was not one to complain, he endured the wholeordeal alone. Eventually his sister noticed that something wasn’t right abouthis walk and suggested that he see a doctor. Andrew recovered well and even returned to work. And we had HOPE! In March, 2022, Andrew started experiencing problems with hissight.  After changing doctors andrunning a battery of tests, Andrew was admitted to Doctors Hospital on March,17.  Ten days later, on March, 27, 2022at 4:28 p.m. God stepped in, and as only a loving father knows how to, scoopedAndrew up and said “Enough is Enough!”

It is well with Andrew’s soul!
