Announcement/Obituary: Eulease Parmella Dames (Nee McDonald), fourth child of Henry and Stella McDonald (deceased), was born on January 7th 1917 in the quaint settlement of Staniard Creek, Andros locally called The Garden. Eulease received her early education at the All-Age School in Staniard Creek, Andros. At the age of 15 years, she accepted The Lord, Jesus Christ, as her personal Saviour. At the age of 18, she became a covenant member of The Church of God of Prophecy in Staniard Creek, Andros. On February 25th 1940, she met, fell in love with and married a handsome young man from Rolletown, Exuma, Evangelist Cleveland Dames; who pastored several congregations in the Church of God of Prophecy, including Englerston. This union produced eleven children and were surrogate parents for two of their grandchildren - Lynette and Sharazad. Eulease Dames, Mama, as she was affectionately called by her family and friends, was a dedicated and devoted wife, who never worked in the public or private sector. She cared for her husband and children. Her home was the meeting place for the entire family on special occasions giving stories about her childhood life in Andros and the early years of rearing her thirteen children. Mama made certain her children attended Sunday School and constantly instructed them in the ways of her Savior, Jesus Christ. After Leaving Andros, she became a member of The Church of God of Prophecy, Baillou Road, where she served as Prayer Band Leader, Assistant Women s Missionary Leader and as a Member of the Choir. Eulease loved being around young people and always took the opportunity to impart her knowledge and belief in God to them. She was a strong believer in the word. Daily she read her Bible and the local newspaper. Whenever the family visited her, she would always update them on both local and international news. Eulease had a telephone ministry that she was so proud of. On a daily basis she would call friends, families and church members to share a Bible verse and offered some word of encouragement from the Word. After Mama lost her sight twelve years ago she maintained her spiritual growth by listening to the gospel radio station twenty hours each day, every day. Mama became bed ridden at the end of May 2014 but she was still very aware of what was happening in the community, The Bahamas and the world. She was able to converse on any topic and maintained a keen interest in the work of the Lord. Two weeks prior to Mama s death she gave a special thank you to Eulease for so gently and affectionately meeting all of her physical needs. Mama prayed constantly that the Lord will take her home so that she will not be a burden to her children. On Saturday, October 4, 2014 she was taken to the Trauma Room of The Princess Margaret Hospital. On Sunday, October 5, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. God answered her prayers and Mama quietly slipped from time into eternity.
