Announcement/Obituary: A Time to Be Born: It was indeed a happy and proud day on July 29 , 1978, when Ministers Leon I (deceased) and Blanche Stubbs were blessed with the birth of their third son and they named him Hewitt Delsworth Stubbs, which means little smart boy. Huey as he was affectionately called, continued to bring joy and sometimes sleepless nights to his family as he was said to be a crying baby and was only soothed by his mother s touch because he was a mama s boy from birth. As he matured, so did his good qualities; he was a very caring and loving individual. A Time for Education: Hewitt attended the E. P. Roberts Primary School and after his parents moved to Ridgeland Park West, in 1981, he completed his primary education at the Ridgeland Primary School. In his senior years at C. H. Reeves, Hewitt was big in stature and was strong physically and mentally; hence he was nicknamed Big Huey. Being the class clown he was always getting into mischief; yet he was loyal to his classmates even after graduation in 1996, their friendships still continued. A Time to Work: Hewitt was always an industrious person, during his senior years in school he was employed at City Market and Dog World Kennel. Upon graduation, he secured employment at Sun And Restaurant and later at Atlantis Resort where he worked as a bus boy and waiter in Bahamian Club. Because of his charismatic personality and strong work ethics, it created greater opportunities for him, namely Grey Cliff Restaurant. A Time to Enjoy Life: Hewitt was kind‐hearted, free‐spirited, loyal, dedicated, hard working and jovial; an individual with a unique personality, he can go into any atmosphere and own it. He was always fun to be with or around; he was the life of the party. He tried his best to keep everyone happy whether or not their day was good or bad, he would always say something to make them laugh. He loved his family and his son Hewitt Jr. unconditionally. Family was everything to him and he also had a strong bond with his male cousins. Whenever they got into any problems Big Huey was the one they depended to get them out of it. Hewitt loved sports, especially basketball, which was his passion and was known on the court as Shake n Bake. Anytime Hewitt came dribbling down the court, and at the top of the key, he d shuffle his feet, cross dribble on his defendant, fake left then right, spin, attack the rim, lay‐up, SCORE! That was his signature move. He played in many tournaments especially for Church of God of Prophecy Minnie Street and the dynamic duo of Huey and Romese aka Kobe and Shaq (respectively) with the addition of Aldo, Dale, Eddie, Alderano, Nine, Tuggie and Greco, were highly respected and were nearly unstoppable as they won all but one. Hewitt loved to go out and have fun. He believed in looking good; so he wore the best clothes and had every style and color Jordan tennis on the market. He was self‐proclaimed as The girl s dem sugar and wherever he went, he would spread the love all around. He was the same all the time; he loved cracking jokes, and talking fool, his gift was making people laugh. A Time for Spiritual Affirmation: His God‐fearing parents reared Hewitt in a Christian home; attending Sunday School and Worship Services was not an option. He was very talented and passionate about drumming. Hewitt was one of the best drummers in Church and played and sang in the Youth Choir as well as various plays and concerts. Huey s faith in God was strong. No matter what problems or struggles he faced, he knew where to find comfort and strength and how to call on the name of Jesus. He often recited his favorite scripture verse Isaiah 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. Hewitt lived a life where no matter what he may come against, or whatever condition he found himself in, he knew that only the grace and mercy of God, (no family, no friend) or any other person could bring him through. A Time to Die: Just as in life, so in death, Hewitt was a fighter. In the early morning around 2 a.m., Tuesday, September 30, 2014, he was now taking his rest and past from this time into eternity.
