Announcement/Obituary: On October 4th, 1942, a wonderful baby boy was born to the proud parents of Leon Chester Knowles and Victoria Knowles (Nee) Rahming (both now deceased), whom they christened David Chester Knowles. He was the third of four siblings born into this union. David grew up and schooled in and around the St. James Road area. He started working at an early age and had numerous trades, a few of them were: Carpentry, Waiter and he was also known as one of the best in Acoustical Ceiling Installation. David eventually met his wife, Mary Knowles (nee) Clare at his cousin s Basil Knowles wedding, where he stood as the Best Man and she was Maid of Honor. They were married in 1971 and had three children in this union. David was a charming young man and was loved by many. Like so many of us, David had his faults and lived his life the best he knew how, and so, this led to the separation of family. All of his children loved him for who he was and did their best to help him. They would sometimes joke with him about his life history and the way he lived, but we all knew that was just David. He had many friends, and for sure they tried to help him. But his life was his life and he lived it how he wanted. He loved boats and fishing and always hoped and dreamed he would get lucky and buy his own yacht. This was not to be, but he was able to live on one. David s last years was spent living on his cousin Smokey s (John Allen Knowles) boat, named The Ponderosa, along with his friend Edward Kemp. Hence, his address was actually Potter s Cay. He frequented the area, and got to know many of the persons there, whom he calls his extended family. He was especially well known at Island Luck (FML Group of Companies) and would only ride on his friend s bus, driven by Timothy Burnside. He loved his children and would always talk about all of his children and continued to talk about them up to his passing. David passed away on his cousin s boat on Thursday, August 21st, 2014. We do not know his relationship with God, and cannot judge him on his life. But we do know that he was witnessed to many times and so we, family and friends, leave him in God s hands and hope that all is well. Using his way of life as an example, rather than focusing on his flaws, this allowed his children to realize the importance of family and become better parents themselves. Left to cherish his memories are his: Wife: Mary Knowles; Children and spouses: Debbie Knowles, Gina Smith (nee Clare), Donn Carlos (Yvette) Knowles, Dionne Lee-Suarez, Donnell, Daks (Cindy) Knowles of Houston, Texas; Davina and David (Antionette) Knowles; Stepmother: Lillamae Knowles; Mother-in-Law: Dorothy Clare; Grandchildren: Nikeria, Buster, Deangelo Davis, Hosea Simms, Nederia Stuart, Donn Carlos Jr., Donte, DAvion, Danielle Knowles, Devante Neely, Ashley, Gia and Genae Smith, Stefenell Bain, Davian Lees, Reynaldo, Alyssa & Alia Suarez, Christian and Darius Knowles (Houston, Texas), TNeisha and Latrelle Knowles; Brothers and Spouses: Joseph, Kirk, Anthony, Alvin (Gina) and Craig (Joan) Knowles; Sisters and Spouses: Louise Adderley, Lillian Knowles and Patrice (Robin) Nicholls; Aunt: Eurika Knowles of San Salvador; Nieces: Patrice, Jackie (Earl) Hall, Verinique (Franklyn) Russell, Shioban Knowles, Vandreah, Vanessa, DeShawn, Sasha, Summer, Sevy, Alvarez (David) Farrington, Alicia, Althea and Jasmine; Grandniece: Deveigh and Sabra; Nephews: Stanley (Earlene) Adderley, Rudolph (Singie) Minnis, Frtzgerald (Agatha), Amarion, Anthony, Alvin Jr., Anjelo, Aljaro, Alex, Craig Jr., Deshannon and Thimo; Brother and Sisters-in-Law: Walter Clare of Tampa, Florida (Jeanette), Henry (Lorna), Pastor Eugene (Rosetta) Clare, Granville, George, David (Althea) and Philip (Alficina) Clare, Lilly Clare, Robin Nicholls and Sheila Norton; Cousins: Basil (Lydia) Knowles, Helen Spence, John Allen Knowles (Smokey), Vencil and Clifford Gray; Other Relatives and Friends: Jean, Alva, Karlas, Beth Stuart; The Hortons, Bains and Nixons, The Jolly s and the Crew from The Big Yard, Timothy Burnside, Edward Kemp and The FML Group of Companies (Bridge Branch) and a host of others too many to mention.
