Announcement/Obituary: On January 20th 1963, as natives of Stafford Creek Andros tested out their New Year s resolution and struggled through what was deemed the toughest month of the year, Herman and Muriel Gibson brought home a handsome male child. He was soon christened Milton James Gibson. Milton attained his formal education from the Blanket Sound All Age School, Blanket Sound Andros. This humble, respectful and tenacious young man was known on the school s field for his kind heartedness and skilled hands. His keen sense of sight and problem solving skills aided in his ability to fix any broken item. A believer that if a man doesn t work, he should not eat, Gippy, as he was affectionately called, sought work immediately after completing school with the Bahamas Lumber Company. He remained there as a Foreman until their closure. Known around town as a dependable and dedicated worker, Milton landed a job with the Bahamas Water and Sewage Cooperation. It was during this season that he met and married the charming Inez Theresa Dean. One son was birthed from this union, Marcel. Milton rose through the cooperation s ranks quickly and attained Superintendant status; responsibilities including the day to day running of the Andros Centre. He retired in 1995. Subsequent to his retirement, Gippy remained active with work. He worked on numerous independent contracts including supervising a phase of the Atlantis Resort. It was only after he was physically unable to work any longer, that he traded in his tools for a life of relaxation. After a courageous battle with physical afflictions, Milton knew there was a life of joy and comfort just beyond the pearly gates. On Wednesday the 30th of July 2014 he peacefully slipped from time into eternity.
